Role Requirements:
- Strong general supervisory skills.
- Experience in maintenance and minor works projects.
- Proficiency in computer applications relevant to the role.
- Current Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) General Safety Induction Card.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support office staff, field staff, and subcontractors to ensure efficient project planning and delivery.
- Conduct high-quality condition assessments and cost estimations to achieve effective and cost-efficient project outcomes.
- Prepare accurate and timely estimates, quotations, tender documentation, and project trade packages, including material lists and construction schedules.
- Oversee and coordinate the delivery of construction, maintenance, and upgrade projects undertaken by the State Department.
- Carry out condition assessments for State Department clients, including inspections of building elements and construction materials, and collecting suspected asbestos-containing materials for laboratory testing.
- Promote and maintain a safe and healthy work environment, ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety regulations, employment equity, and anti-discrimination policies.
- Implement and uphold the safety management system (SMS), including:
- Conducting and facilitating WHS audits in collaboration with the Principal WHS Advisor.
- Performing on-site WHS inspections, including plant and equipment checks.
- Ensuring all job documentation includes appropriate risk assessment documentation, such as safe work method statements.
- Work closely with WHS Advisors and the WHS Manager to promote a consistent approach to workplace health and safety while raising awareness and educating staff and contractors on best practices.
