    Senior Landscape Officer – Local Council in Melbourne’s South-East

    Location: Hybrid Working | Melbourne’s South-East
    Duration: 4-month Temporary Role
    Hourly Rate: $64 per hour + Super

    A Local Council in Melbourne’s South-East is seeking a Senior Landscape Officer for a temporary 4-month contract. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the natural and built environment while working with diverse stakeholders to ensure high-quality design outcomes for the community.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Assess landscape plans for conformity with Council policies, guidelines, the Planning Scheme, and planning permit conditions.
    • Evaluate large-scale subdivision landscape masterplans for compliance with Council requirements and Precinct Structure Plans.
    • Formulate landscape conditions for residential, commercial, public, and subdivision planning permits.
    • Provide expert advice to developers, landscape architects, and design consultants on landscape submissions.
    • Process inquiries and offer clear guidance on landscaping matters to professionals and community members.
    • Collaborate with multiple internal and external teams and departments on landscape referrals.
    • Support Planning Investigation officers in compliance and enforcement of landscape-related matters.
    About You:
    To be successful in this role, you will have:
    • A relevant landscape, planning, or horticulture qualification, or extensive experience in landscape design, horticulture, or planning.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret the natural and built environment, creating innovative and technically sound design responses.
    • Experience in reading and interpreting landscape architectural plans.
    • Strong ability to manage planning timelines and deliver outcomes efficiently.
    • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative approach.
    • Proven problem-solving skills, focused on achieving positive outcomes for both Council and the community.
    • A high level of horticultural knowledge (advantageous).
    • Experience in landscape construction (advantageous).
