Safety Advisor

• Provide expert advice on occupational health, safety, injury management, and wellbeing, ensuring compliance with policies and legislation.
• Identify and address safety and wellbeing issues, collaborating with internal and external resources under the guidance of the Safety & Wellbeing Coordinator.
• Regularly meet with People Leaders to review safety and wellbeing issues, including incident reports, return-to-work plans, and risk management strategies.
• Support People and Safety leadership with projects and initiatives as needed.
• Assist in preparing documentation for conciliations, mediations, investigations, and hearings.
• Support the continuous improvement of Council’s Safety Management System.

• Relevant qualifications and experience in occupational health and safety, injury management, and return-to-work coordination.
• Strong ability to interpret and apply legislation and policies to guide leaders, employees, and Health & Safety Representatives (HSRs) on risk management, including hazard identification, ergonomics, chemical risks, psychological safety, and wellbeing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality reports, correspondence, and presentations for a range of stakeholders.
• Public sector experience will be highly regarded.
