We are looking for a skilled
Financial Accountant
to join our client, a progressive local council in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking organisation dedicated to fostering a sustainable and engaged community. This
three-month temporary contract
has the potential for extension and offers flexibility with a
hybrid work arrangement.
About the Role:
As a Financial Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. Key responsibilities include:
- Performing month-end and quarter-end procedures, including general ledger reconciliations, journal reviews, and financial reporting.
- Reviewing and accounting for capital and operating grants.
- Preparing monthly bank reconciliations
for all council accounts.
- Reviewing capital works projects to determine capitalisation of assets and writing off non-capital expenditure.
- Assisting with FBT compliance
as required.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Proven experience in a similar role within the Public Sector, Not-for-Profit, Education, or Healthcare
industries.
- Strong knowledge of banking functions, procedures, and fixed assets (AASB132).
- Experience using TechOne or Oracle Fusion
(highly desirable).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented approach.
