A local council is looking for a Financial Accountant to assist the team in completing and ensuring all Fixed Assets are accounted for.
Role Purpose:Are you an experienced accounting professional with experience in assets? Can you work autonomously with limited direction? In this role you will need to identify, lead and implement proactive asset management practices through the accurate and timely measurement, recording and accounting of non-current assets and by providing liaison and support to Council operations.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: - Lead a broad range of financial and accounting services in the area of asset accounting and financial reporting.
- Provide professional advice to Council stakeholders in the establishment of multi-functional asset management systems.
- Facilitates the co-ordination of asset impairment testing, stocktakes, valuations and revaluations, as well as the review of useful lives, residual values and valuation methodologies.
- Maintenance of best practice depreciation methods, including budget forecasts and for tax equivalents purposes.
- Undertake reconciliations of asset movements and balances to relevant general ledger control, income and expense accounts as an internal control function and for capital funding and cash flow purposes.
- Compile asset data for end of year reporting and disclosure and as input to tax equivalents calculations.
What you’ll bring - Previous experience in Govt/NFP/Education sector in a similar field
- CPA accreditation
- Research, analytical and investigation experience in Accountancy, preferably in conjunction with assets
- Technology One experience desirable
- Good communication and computer skills.
