Coordinator, Communications
for a 8 months Temp position.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering strategic communications that align with council priorities and enhance public engagement.
As the
Coordinator, Communications, you will be responsible for overseeing the council’s media and communication outputs, ensuring they are timely, accurate, relevant, and consistent.
You will play a key role in developing strategic messaging, mentoring and coaching staff, and providing high-level advice to senior stakeholders on communication strategies and critical incident management.

Your responsibilities in this role will include: - Reviewing branch media and communication outputs daily to ensure alignment with organisational messaging and priorities.
- Developing and refining written media and communications to maximise effectiveness.
- Mentoring and coaching staff to improve the timeliness, accuracy, and consistency of council communications.
- Providing strategic advice to senior management on corporate messaging and communication initiatives.
- Supporting the Media and Communications Manager with daily communication tasks and projects.
- Managing communication strategies during critical incidents, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Staying up to date with emerging communication trends and providing subject matter expertise to the council.
- Building and sustaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support communication objectives.
- Contributing to the development of policies and procedures related to corporate communication and public engagement.
About You: - Open to temporary employment and can start with 2 weeks notice
- Tertiary qualification
in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field, or extensive relevant experience.
- Proven senior-level experience
in the preparation and editing of corporate communications.
- Demonstrated ability to translate organisational priorities into effective messaging for diverse audiences.
- Strong experience in coaching and mentoring colleagues
to improve communication standards.
- Experience in managing critical incident communications
within a large organisation.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to provide high-level strategic advice
to senior stakeholders.
- Strong understanding, or the ability to rapidly acquire it, of government policies and procedures.
- A current Queensland ‘C’ class driver’s licence.
