About the Role As a key member of the Leadership Team, reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, this role provides strategic leadership for the Information Management and Technology function. It oversees the development and management of plans, budgets, operations, and systems to support Randwick City Council’s goals.
As Chief Information Officer (CIO), the role ensures that all individuals within the division collaborate effectively to achieve Council’s Operational and Strategic Plans. It involves leading and inspiring the team, coaching and developing staff, fostering partnerships across Council, addressing challenges, and implementing best practices in data security and technology implementation.
A critical aspect of this position is driving the Council’s Digital Strategy, ensuring digital services align with organisational priorities and community needs.
This role manages 3 direct reports and oversees a team of 30.
Key responsibilities include: - As part of Council’s Leadership Team, contribute to planning and setting corporate direction including vision, values and goals.
- Leading the development and implementation of Council’s Digital Strategy, ensuring divisional directions are clearly communicated, implemented, monitored and evaluated.
- Ability to mentor and lead a team of IT professionals to support Council’s technology needs and objectives.
- High level experience in strategic business planning and resource management, including demonstrated ability to understand and monitor the true cost of services.
- Ensuring IT governance, compliance, and risk management frameworks are in place as well as managing Council’s IT infrastructure, cybersecurity and data management.
- Overseeing digital transformation projects to improve service delivery and efficiency.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive innovation, continuous improvement and efficiency.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, manage and implement significant operational, organisational and cultural change in a high consultative environment.
We're Looking for Someone With: - Proven experience in a senior IT leadership role, ideally within local government.
- Strong strategic thinking and the ability to align technology initiatives with business objectives.
- Expertise in IT governance, cybersecurity, and enterprise system management.
- Excellent mentoring, leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in delivering digital transformation and improving IT service delivery.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
